Baltazar Solano Rodríguez – Head of Energy Systems Modelling
Baltazar specialises in the use and development of global, national and sectoral energy models for the analysis of decarbonisation strategies and transition risk assessments.
His 20 years’ experience in the energy sector encompasses roles in industry, consultancy and academia. In industry and consultancy, he has worked for Schlumberger, UK National Nuclear Laboratory, AEA Technology, Cervest and Baringa. In academia, he was a Senior Research Fellow in Energy Systems Modelling at University College London, where he developed models and generated scenarios to inform the climate strategies of the British government, the European Union and Mexico. He has delivered decarbonisation modelling-related work for the International Energy Agency (IEA), International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Danish Energy Agency, BlackRock and HSBC among many others.
He holds degrees in Engineering Physics, Industrial Systems and Operations Research from ITESM, University of Cambridge and University of Edinburgh. He has also studied Climate Change related Financial Risks at Oxford University. For more information visit baltazarsolano.com.
Emilio Sessa – Head of Emissions and Decarbonisation Targets
Emilio is an MBA Engineer in sustainability and green energy businesses and has worked in different countries as a sustainability consultant for companies supporting their decarbonisation journey.
He is an expert in carbon accounting, carbon offsetting and net-zero targets for companies. As part of the Transition Risk team at Cervest, he developed the company’s approach to build emission profiles and to set up climate targets.
Besides leading our emissions accounting and targets work, Emilio is also carrying out research on cities’ carbon neutrality and energy and climate justice indicators as part of his PhD studies at the Department of Engineering at the University of Palermo. He also cooperates with the Bologna Business School as lecturer for the MBA and Executive MBA courses.
